Bite-size News

The Calgary Zoo manages a diverse collection of animals representing many geographic areas of the world – and it takes a small army of dedicated zoo staff to take care of everything for the animals and over 1.2 million visitors each year. Almost daily, there is some news about our animals or the interesting people that work or visit the zoo. In Bite-size News we’ll share those short stories with you to keep you up-to-date on what’s happening at your zoo.

Burrowing owls live in underground burrows dug by prairie dogs and other burrowing animals. When threatened, they hide in their burrows and make a sound like a rattlesnake.
